Worship Services

Sunday Worship – 10 a.m. Sanctuary Service
Children’s Church – 10:20 a.m.
Sacred Grounds – 11:00 a.m. following worship

Our worship is a fusion of traditional, global and praise music that supports a liturgy that includes prayer, preaching and communion each week. We are focused on listening for God’s word and call in our lives, asking questions about meaning and direction, celebrating the grace and gifts of a loving God and serving others in Jesus’ name!

Mision Hispana. We have a service in Spanish every Sunday at noon, followed by fellowship and bible study. Parishioners represent a wide variety of Spanish-speaking cultures. Special youth gatherings also are part of this ministry for our Spanish-speaking friends. For more information contact: Pastor Cecilia Obret. 773-512-5026.

We had a fun and festive gathering around Cinco de Mayo!

Children are welcome in worship. Nursery care also is available. There is a “Time with the Children” during worship on most Sundays, after which children may leave for Children’s Church, which includes supervised music and drama activities based on Christian themes. We are very proud of our young liturgical dance troupe that performs regularly during our worship service.

Sacred Grounds – a time of fellowship and refreshments occurs following worship each week in the Grace Street lobby at the top of the Grace Street stairs, just outside the sanctuary.

Music Our music ministry is a vital component of life for the people of Irving Park United Methodist Church. It is under the outstanding direction of Jason McKinney.

Although some aspects of our worship life are traditional, we strive to match the diversity of our musical offerings to that of our community of faith. Much of what we share each week in congregational song can be found in The United Methodist Hymnal or The Faith We Sing; which is a denominational supplement to the hymnal comprised of many newly written songs and hymn texts for today’s church.

We enjoy a Celebration Choir, vocal, instrumental and liturgical dance and music from our children’s group. Come join us by participating in our music program as a member of The Celebration Choir, as a guest soloist or musician, or by being a member of our congregational audience.

Special services also are offered on Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday; Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

Our Sunday schedule includes occasional adult discussions/classes following fellowship at 11:30.
