Lent and Small Groups

Lent 2010 begins on Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Fat Tuesday dinner/preparation of Haiti Health Kits - 7 p.m. Feb. 16 - fellowship hall

Palm Sunday – March 28, 2010
Holy Thursday – April 1, 2010
Good Friday – April 2, 2010
Easter Sunday – April 4, 2010

Health Kits for Haiti will be forwarded to UMCOR.
The requested items (IN BULK form not kits) are:
one-gallon sealed plastic bags, hand towels (not kitchen towels), washcloths, large combs, fingernail clippers, bath-size soap, toothbrushes (individually wrapped), plastic strip sterile bandages

Checks/money donations may be made out to Irving Park United Methodist Church with "Haiti Relief" marked in the memo line. The church will send a check to UMCOR.

Small Groups

Bible Study 101
Join with others for this overview of the Bible and understand how the 66 books of the Old and New Testament tie together. Lowell Allen, retired UM pastor, leads this interesting and fun discussion. Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. You need no prior bible knowledge to join this group!

Prayer Network. This group of faithful prayer partners pray for everyone that has submitted a request to the group, either spoken, or written on the forms provided with our Prayer Boxes. To become part of our praying group contact Tina & Wally Felckowski, bwf79@sbcglobal.net

Sunday morning bible study, Book of Matthew, led by David Foster, 8:45 – 9:45 a.m. All are welcome. We meet in the third floor chapel. Come up the stairs inside the Grace Street entrance.

Spanish Worship Service - 12 noon on Sundays, followed by bible study. All in Spanish.

WorkNiters – Join this group of men who do odd jobs around the church and gather for fellowship. For more information contact Kent Keutzer, coachK1620@yahoo.com or 773-316-9755.

United Methodist Women (UMW). This group of women focus on mission projects throughout the year. For more information on upcoming meetings and projects, please contact Joyce Mylander: irvingparkumc@sbcglobal.net

Deborah's Circle – meets monthly to discuss bible passages and life lessons. If you are interested in this small group for women, please contact Pastor Vickie. hadvl@comcast.net

The Irving Park Community Food Pantry. This pantry operates out of the basement of our church where it was founded by one of our members over 25 years ago. SPSARV, Substance Abuse And Related Violence. If you are interested in knowing more about this opportunity to becoming trained to help those who struggle with drug and alcohol abuse contact Gerry Sikora at: gesikora@sbcglobal.net

Pentecost Sunday, which marks the end of the Easter season in the Christian calendar, celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles. Pentecost falls on Sunday, May 23, 2010.
