Our Community

As a neighborhood church, it’s important for us to be actively involved in our immediate and local communities. That’s why we’ve joined forces with various organizations to support fellow Irving Park residents and neighbors in the surrounding area.

  • Irving Park Food Pantry - Founded over 25 years ago by an IPUMC member, the pantry serves more than 400 families (1300 individuals) per month. Wednesday mornings, 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Contact the IP Food Pantry for volunteer opportunities.

  • Hands to Help - Providing housing, resources, and assistance to the homeless. Get involved through fundraising, joint activities (i.e. christmas caroling) and volunteer time. Contact Kara Wagner Sherer at 773.725.9026.

  • Community Feast - Housed at United Church of Rogers Park, teams are sent throughout the year to serve, cook and bake pies for over 100 needy children and families. Sundays at 5 p.m. Contact Northa Johnson, Volunteer Coordinator, or the United Church Office.

  • Disney II Magnet - Located a block away, IPUMC is a “home away from home,” hosting their 2nd grade Brownie troop, offering additional space when needed, and providing annual Back-to-School backpacks to over 25 budding scholars.

  • Irving Park YMCA - Sharing the YMCA “stronger families and communities” vision, we provide a helping hand for youth basketball camps, summer gardening and other family programs.

  • Irving Park Historical Society - The Irving Park Historical Society is a program seeking to recognize the beauty, grace and longevity — as well as the stewardship by owners past and present — of homes 100 years or more in the Old Irving Park neighborhood. For more information, contact President Rich Lang at 773.777.2650.

Other community partnerships include the Polish American Association, Reconciling Ministries Network, and the Jefferson Park Community Garden.
