Welcome to Michelle Stephens - our New Children & Youth Minister. Michelle Stephens is a recent graduate of Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary with a Masters of Arts in Pastoral Care & Counseling. She comes with the theological background to teach children and youth of the church and community about God’s work and witness in their lives. Michelle’s expertise in the area of children and youth has been nurtured and developed at the Brookston United Methodist Church, as a small group leader for a campus ministry, a chaplain intern at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis, and most recently her ministry with the afterschool program at United Church of Roger’s Park. She lives in Evanston with her husband, Chris, who is a student at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary. The addition of Michelle to the staff at Irving Park United Methodist continues our mission of rethinking church. Join us in welcoming her into the exciting ministry at Irving Park United Methodist Church during the worship service on July 4th at 10:00 a.m with a reception to follow.
Keep in your prayers:
The adult children Lois and Paul, the grandchildren, and the extended family Joyce and Gerry Mylander’s sister-in-law Eunice Mylander who had been ill and died last week. Eunice was the wife of Gerry's oldest brother Reuben, who had passed away in January. She was in her late 80s.
Amelia Guevera had surgery yesterday. She'll be in the hospital for a couple of days but the surgery went well.
Prayers of thanksgiving that she is alert and for a quick recovery. Also prayers for her son, Ron, as he supports his mother. Amelia has been a member of our congregation for a long time although she has not been able to make it to services in the last year or so. Cards would be welcome: 6461 W Warner, #309, Chicago, Illinois 60634. 773-777-0185.
Please keep all those who have suffered loss or illness, lack of work, heartbreak or other life challenges in your prayers. Also raise up your joys! If you are interested in being part of our Prayer Network, or would like to have them pray for a special person or cause, contact Tina or Wally Felckowski: bwf79@sbcglobal.net
