Mother's Day and Confirmation Sunday

Scripture readings: John 13:23-29 and Timothy 4:12-16

This Sunday, join us to celebrate Mothers and our Confirmation Class. During a combined worship service with Mision Hispana, Rev. James Preston, our district superintendent, will join Pastor Vickie, Pastor Cecilia and Emily, our student pastor, as they bless our confimands: Ruby Keutzer, Jackie Schulz, Abraham Dadoub, Daniela and Alejandra Ruiz. A pot luck fellowship will follow worship. Please bring a dish to pass if you are joining us for this celebration. If you have messages or bookmarks for the confirmands, please bring them on Sunday or get them to Vicci Rodgers Keutzer: 773-777-1674 or Vicci@therodgersgroup.com. This Sunday we also bid farewell to Pastor Emily who will graduate from Garrett Evangelical Seminary on Friday. We are so very grateful for the many contributions Emily has made to our worship and our lives during her brief nine months with us. She will be an amazing Pastor and we have been blessed to have her spend some of her journey with us.

Saturday Garden Clean-Up – This Weekend!
This is from Karyn Prather who is organizing our garden effort this year:
Hi everyone, hope you all are doing well.  Spring is in the air and it’s time to make our church garden beautiful!  For those who haven’t taken a close look, there are some amazing perennials getting ready to bloom.  Janet Spencer forwarded your name as someone who has expressed an interest in helping out. I’d like to organize a garden cleanup effort on Saturday from 9-11am.  This will allow us to get the grounds in shape before Mothers Day.  I’ll provide coffee, donuts & materials.  I’ll need you to bring your garden tools and a willingness to get dirty. Please let me know if you plan to attend.  Feel free to invite anyone else who may be interested. We are also working on getting a new arbor and bench for the garden.  The intent is to get those in place soon.

Church camp registration forms and funds due. Contact Meg Green: mmrgreen@sbcglobal.net for more information. This is a fun and faith-filled weekend for all. The event is in June but reservations are due now. $85 adults and youth age 12 and older. $55 youth 4-11. Children 3 and younger are free.

Speaking of Meg Greene – she is leaving for Istanbul next week to spend time with a close friend who is a missionary in that country. Please keep her in your prayers.

Kent Keutzer’s cousin, Gilbert Pinter, passed away suddenly this week. He was 64. Please keep Kent and his family in your prayers.

Please keep all those who have suffered loss or illness, lack of work, heartbreak or other life challenges in your prayers. Also raise up your joys! Caring for Creation 2010 – Summer Camp June 22 through August 10 @ IPUMC

Caring for Creation 2010 – Special summer camp for kids grades 3-6 offered by IPUMC!
REGISTRATION FORMS AVAILABLE IN THE CHURCH OFFICE and attached to this email.
Tuesdays, June 22 through August 10, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Created by Tracy and Greg Mitchell and Pastor Vickie, designed to give children an opportunity to learn more about how to take care of themselves and how to care for the environment/community in which they live. The program will rotate from week-to-week between the two areas of focus. Field trips include: Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago Botanic Garden, Waveland Bowl, New Hope Food Pantry, The Field Museum, Bethany Home. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch. Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. Each field trip will be supplemented with games, movies, cooking and crafts to reinforce the theme of the day. Registration is $75 per participant for the entire summer. Registration deadline is Friday, June 18th.
