We continue our journey through Lent

MISSION UPDATE
Plaudits to Lindsey Elston on the first-hand report and appeal for the Native American TREE OF LIFE MINISTRY in South Dakota; and the success of the Health Kits contributed for Haiti as well as the offering (amount will be announced later.) This completes our Red Band and Orange Band in our quest to be named a Rainbow Covenant Church again in 2010! To learn more about the Rainbow Covenant designation and our planned mission work, look at the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall and watch for Mission of the Month handouts around the church. If you want to get involved in mission work, contact Lowell Allen, lowelldallen@att.net.
March will emphasize ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING. This is not part of our Rainbow Covenant. It is the church wide offering for The United Methodist Committee on Relief and covers the administrative and basic need to prepare and be on site for UMCOR. This allows 100% of the special offerings to be used for the purpose the gifts are given. The offering will be received March 28.
Trustee chair, Kent Keutzer, reports that the group is meeting regularly to keep the building renovation plan moving forward. Welcome to Greg Mitchell and Joe Flores, Sr. who have joined the Trustees!

Saturday
United Methodist Women's Potluck Lunch meeting at 12:45 p.m. Just bring a dish to share and please join us then! Our short business time together will focus on our charity donations for this year. We would be pleased if you are able to join our fellowship. Contact Joyce Mylander with questions.
Worship Committee - Saturday, 10:30 a.m. We will be discussing Holy Week Services. Pastor Vickie’s office.

Bible study – 8:45 – 9:45 a.m. - Upstairs chapel
Worship – 10 – 11 a.m. - sanctuary
Fellowship – 11:15 – 11:45 – fellowship hall (downstairs)
Confirmation class – 11:30 – 2 p.m. - check with Emily on location
Inquiring class for new members – 11:30 – 1 p.m. Upstairs chapel
Pastor Vickie will be teaching these classes. People who are interested in joining Irving Park UMC are invited to attend. After the fifth session, individuals will decide whether they are ready to make a commitment to join. Classes will be held on Sunday mornings after worship in Upstairs Chapel. If interested please speak to Pastor Vickie.

The Irving Park Community Food Pantry needs donors for their annual Easter Bag distribution for the children of their clients. Approximately 250 youngsters in the 2 to 8 year old range will be served on March 17, 24 or 31. Please see pink flyers on round table in the narthex for details. Thank you.
2010 Easter flowers may be ordered Sunday, March 7, through Sunday, March 21st.
Flowers are in 6 1/2 inch pots and cost $12.00 each. Please pay when ordering. (check made out to "Irving Park United Methodist Church" with "Easter flowers" on the memo line. Please return order form to the church, attention Joyce Mylander, or in offering plate on a Sunday. Questions? Call Joyce at the church office 773-283-6262.
