Consecration Sunday

This is Consecration Sunday. Rev. Lisl Heymans Paul will be our guest preacher. She is ordained in the United Methodist Church and serves as a campus minister at Agape House Christian Ministry at University of Illinois, Chicago. Her passion is working with students as they discover Christ in their journey of faith. We follow worship with a catered luncheon in our fellowship hall. There is no cost, we just ask that you make a reservation by calling the church office. If you haven’t turned in your pledge cards for 2010, please bring it to service on Sunday. Please join us for this important time together.

Prayers extended to: Pastor Vickie as she travels on Friday to Florida to be with her mother, Barb, and step father Tom Nagle. Tom has been ill for some time and now has developed pneumonia. Pastor will be with her family at least through Tuesday. We send our prayers to her entire family during this difficult time.

Prayers continue for:
The brother of Anna Certa, Bobby (Eugene) Kitchen, is very ill. We send special prayers of comfort to Anna, Frank and their family during this very difficult time.
Lowell Allen and his granddaughters who are having troubled pregnancies.
Stacey Blaha’s aunt and Kent Keutzer’s sister who both are battling breast cancer.
Pastor Cecilia’s mother who remains very ill.

Last Sunday we lifted up these saints who have passed this past year and many more who went unmentioned.
Clayton Mylander – March 2, 2009; brother of Gerald Mylander
Moises Flores – April 4, 2009; brother of Joe Flores, Sr.

Our Annual Church Meeting last Sunday Night went very well. District Superintendent Rev. James Preston joined us and lifted up the many accomplishments of the past year. He also mentioned that our church is featured several times in the new video about the Northern Illinois Conference. We were reminded that our own Mission Hispana is one of the Harvest 2020 ministries.

The Annual Food and Toy Drive for the Irving Park Food Pantry is starting. Please ask Vicci Rodgers Keutzer about helping with the toy drive and Molly Melick about food needs and volunteer opportunities. We also will be collecting socks, scarves and hats for the homeless and delivering them to Humboldt Park UMC’s mission outreach in conjunction with our own Mission Hispana congregation. If you want to help with the Thanksgiving distribution for the Food Pantry that takes place in our fellowship hall (lower level) help is needed Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. for set-up and Nov. 18, 8:30 – noon for distribution.
