Remember Diversity and Unity in October!
During the month of October we're remembering the church's diversity and unity.
On October 4th we began gathering various breads from around the world – corn tortillas, pita, Swedish Rye, French Baguette, and Hallah. If you would like to bring a loaf of bread from your native land or culture, we'd love it! Just email Pastor Vickie to let her know what you will bring and we'll present it during Communion. In and through Christ, we can reach around the world in love and compassion!
This Sunday, come hear and support our Student Pastor, Emily Slavicek as she presents her first sermon from our pulpit. Scripture readings: Mark 10:17-31, Psalm 22: 1-15
October 18 we will have one of our Kingdom Sundays – in other words, all ages will stay and participate in worship. It is Bread for the World Sunday and we will join people all over the world who want to end hunger. Instead of a sermon, we'll have a couple activities for us to use our power in positive ways!
November 1 is All Saints Day. We will remember and celebrate the people in our lives who have guided and inspired our faith. If you have someone in your life who died between November 1, 2008 and now, please send the following to Joyce at the church: Name of deceased, your name, relationship to you, date of death. We will print this information in the bulletin on November 1st. Information must be received by Wed. October 28th. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Vickie.
Don’t miss the Blessing of the Animals in our church garden this Saturday, October 10 at 2 p.m. We need people to make goody bags for children! And, if you can help on the day of the event, come at 1 p.m. to help Pastor Vickie set up for the service. Contact Pastor Vickie to volunteer or for more information. Also, this Sunday is the final Farmer’s Market at Independence Park. Stop by before or after church.

Please keep all of our prayer requests from last week in mind this week. If you are interested in being part of our Prayer Network, or would like to have them pray for a special person or cause, contact Tina or Wally Felckowski: bwf79@sbcglobal.net

Welcome to the World “Everett Grey Falconer!”
Starting the week of October 11, we will deliver meals to the Falconer family in celebration of their new addition, Everett Grey. If you want to join in, call Joyce in the church office and let her know when you would like to make and deliver a meal! Falconer family: 4022 N. Laramie, Chicago, 60641.
From the mission committee
Our Mission for October is the Children’s Fund. This is the Yellow Band in our Rainbow Covenant. We will collect on Sundays during worship or you can mail a donation directly to the church office.
