A Focus on Prudence

Last Sunday Pastor Vickie led us in worship using 1 Kings 3:3-14 and Ephesians 5:15-20. Her focus was on Prudence and how it is the art of seeing clearly. Prudence gives us a reality check by focusing on God’s desires and plans for us. It fosters humility in a society that pushes self-confidence. And provides a spiritual framework where method is solid but the rules are fluid. She used the book, “By Way of Grace: Moving from Faithfulness to Holiness” by Paula Huston (2007) as a resource.

This Sunday, Pastor Vickie will work from: John 6:56-69.

Prayers
Prayers for Stacey Blaha’s Aunt Brenda, who has been diagnosed with cancer and has lost her health insurance. Also prayers for Stacey and Mike’s friend’s mother, Celia, who is in hospice and her sister, Vanessa, who has been diagnosed with lymphoma.

Prayers of thanksgiving because Janet Spencer’s daughter, Pam, has restored health.

Brent Prather’s mother, Joan, has finished her radiation treatments and all appears well at this time.

Prayers for all of those who have prayers we don’t always hear.

Prayers of thanksgiving for Wally and Tina Felckowski’s 30th wedding anniversary.

Prayers of caring for Kelly McCoy, her family and friends. This is Kent Keutzer’s younger sister, who is in hospice at home in Aurora.

Safe travels for Karen Orzechowski, daughter of Kathy Verschoor, now en route to Kunming, China. On September 1, she will travel north through the southwest portion of mainland China to begin teaching business English at a university in Kunming. She will be gone for at least 12 months. Keep Karen, Kathy and the rest of their family in your prayers.

We pray for children (and parents) getting ready for the school year to start.

We pray for those who are sick, hungry, in search of work and for those who are lonely and in need of comfort.
