Welcome Rev. Dwight Stewart
Here’s wishing you all a wonderful holiday weekend. For those who are in town and joining us for worship this Sunday, Rev. Dwight Stewart returns to our church as a guest preacher! Ordained as a United Methodist minister for over 25 years, Rev. Stewart currently serves as a chaplain at Resurrection Health Care in Oak Park, Illinois. Pastor Lowell Allen will lead the worship and is taking pastoral calls while Pastor Vickie is away for the holiday weekend.
“He has done everything well;
he even makes the deaf to hear
and the mute to speak.” Mark 7:37
We had a wonderful celebration last Sunday of the ministry of our Student Pastor, Adam Barlow-Thompson, (who has served our church for the past year). Thanks again to Adam and Ashley for their service to our church on so many fronts over the past year. Pictures were taken and will be added to the scrap book we’re preparing for the Barlow-Thompson household. Extra copies have been printed and can be picked up at church. If you didn’t get a chance to insert a special message last week, the book will be available again this week. Thanks to all who brought in supplies for the backpacks and helped with the blessing at both services last Sunday.
Fall Program Kick-Off and Send-Off for Houchins-Witt Family on Sunday Sept. 13
Learn about and sign up for our programs, small groups and activities that start this Fall and continue into 2010. This is our annual Fall kick-off. Also join us as we thank Carrie and Corey (Waylon and Carter Birch too) for the tremendous contributions they have made to our church and lives during the time they have been members of IPUMC. We’ll share cupcakes and lemonade after service, sign an album and take pictures. Then we’ll move on to the home of Pam and John Knutson for a Picnic/BBQ, 5834 W. Eddy (one block south of Addison) Chicago. Meat will be provided. Please bring a dish and beverage to share. Please telephone, or e-mail Joyce at church irvingparkumc@sbcglobal.net if you think you will come so we may plan accordingly. Everyone is invited. If you have a message you would like to include in an album, send it to Pastor Vickie at: hadvl@comcast.net

Adam Barlow-Thompson as he starts work with his new congregation in Morton Grove.
