Thank You Adam!

Were not our hearts burning within
us while he was talking to us on the road,
while he was opening the scriptures to us? Luke 24:32

This Sunday, if you are not traveling and are in the area, join us as we celebrate the ministry of our Student Pastor, Adam Barlow-Thompson, (who has served our church for the past year). Adam’s trademark line has been “I love you and there’s nothing you can do about it!” Come hear what he has to say in his send-off sermon this week.

After worship we will enjoy fellowship. Join us as we wish Adam happiness in his recent marriage to Ashley and in his new assignment in Morton Grove. If you have a message you would like to share with Adam and Ashley, send it to Pastor Vickie at: hadvl@comcast.net or vicci@therodgersgroup.com. We’ll add it to the album we’re preparing.

Thanks to all who brought in supplies for the backpacks we will bless at both services this Sunday. These backpacks will go to children who cannot afford to purchase the necessary supplies to start the school year.

Labor Day Weekend Sunday, Rev. Dwight Stewart returns to our church as a guest preacher! Ordained as a United Methodist minister for over 25 years, Rev. Stewart currently serves as a chaplain at Resurrection Health Care in Oak Park, Illinois. Pastor Lowell Allen will lead the worship while Pastor Vickie is away for the holiday weekend.

Fall Program Kick-Off and Send-Off for Houchins-Witt Family on Sunday Sept. 13
Learn about and sign up for our programs, small groups and activities that start this Fall and continue into 2010. This is our annual Fall kick-off. Also join us as we thank Carrie and Corey for the tremendous contributions they have made to our church and lives during the time they have been members of IPUMC. Carrie and Corey are moving to Iowa where they will be closer to relatives who want to help spoil Waylon and Carter Birch! We’ll share cupcakes and lemonade after service, sign an album and take pictures. Then we’ll move on to the home of Pam and John Knutson for a Picnic/BBQ, 5834 W. Eddy (one block south of Addison) Chicago. Meat will be provided. Please bring a dish and beverage to share. Please telephone, or e-mail Joyce at church irvingparkumc@sbcglobal.net if you think you will come so we may plan accordingly. Everyone is invited. If you have a message you would like to include in an album, send it to Pastor Vickie at: hadvl@comcast.net
